Two suffragettes, fortunately not of the militant type, held two meetings from a landau near the railway station on Saturday afternoon and evening last.
A large crowd of both sexes gathered at each meeting and the speakers were accorded a good hearing.
The ‘Votes for Women’ movement was expounded in an able and interesting manner, the witty repartee of the speakers when dealing with hecklers causing great merriment and applause.
Questions were invited at the close of each meeting.
