The New Town Hall
On Monday the Council entered into possession of the Estate Offices on Roman Bank, where the business of the town will now be conducted.
Last night the first committee meeting was supposed to have been held, but when we looked in about 8 o’clock only the officials were in attendance.
The Chairman of the Housing Committee was unable to be present as he was indisposed, and at 8.45pm none of the members of the Committee had turned up.
Generally the house-warming is a cheerful event, if only a bottle or two of wine and a few biscuits are provided, but last night was very cold comfort, because the Chairman of the Water Committee had not even provided a jug of water and a crust of bread.
Probably better luck next time!
