Temporary Fishermen’s Orphan Home Opened by Countess of Scarbrough

This is an extract from a 1880 newspaper article which reported on a meeting which had recently been held regarding the proposal of opening of a Fishermen’s Orphan Home in Skegness.

The report reveals that the Countess of Scarbrough officially opened a TEMPORARY home on the 5th of November, presumably of the year before ie 1879, until a permanent one could be built on land donated by the Earl of Scarbrough.

At the moment I don’t know the location of the temporary home, or indeed the permanent one which followed….still investigating….
