A candle-lit vigil was held in Compass Gardens, Skegness to mark the centenary of declaration of World War One on the 4th August, 2014.
The event was organised by Skegness man, Trevor Burnham.
The Mayor of Skegness, Cllr George Saxon, joined forces with members of Skegness Branch of the British Legion and residents of Skegness, to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in the Great War.
Lights went out in Skegness at 10pm for one hour, and the Skegness Clock Tower was frozen at 10pm for twelve hours.
In the video below, Cllr Steve O’Dare leads the vigil, with prayers offered by the Rev Ian Banks.
Exactly one hour later, at 11pm, the lights of Skegness shone again!
