Jungle Cleared for Housing Development

`Jungle’ takes a tumble
THE last section of the old Jungle, next to the police station, is falling to the bulldozers. Chapel St Leopards building con- tractors Nelson and Bartlett are planning to develop the site with 14 town houses in four blocks fronting Castleton Boulevard, eight maisonettes fronting North Parade and six maisonettes on Park Avenue.
The architects are H. E. Nicholls, who say that the town houses will be a larger version of those built by the same firm on Berry Way. All the properties will have their own garage reached by a service road.
The East Lindsey District Council have decided that none of the trees is worth saving and have lifted the preservation order.
A tree planting scheme will be carried out to replace them. Planning permission has been sought for the first block of four town houses and for the layout of plots and construction of roads and sewers. (Photo: LSG, Skegness).
