Parish Church Fire

SKEGNESS. Considerable excitement was created the parish church of this place on Sunday morning last, during the service. The flue which passes through the roof having become over-heated, tho wood-work around caught tire. By cutting portion of the lead rool aud pouring water in, the fire was goon extinguished. The service was shortly afterwards resumed.

Note: The parish church as described in the newspaper article would have been the old church of St Clement’s, as St Matthew’s church wasn’t built in 1863..
