Rare Birds Spotted in 1841

800px-Mergus_merganser_-Sandwell_-England_-male-8Skegness.—Within the last fortnight, the coast here has been visited several of the winged tribe rarely (if ever) seen in the neighbourhood before, vis., the Crested Grebe (Podlceps), and the Goosander (Merganser). An individual of each of the above species has been taken alive. Their visits are looked upon by the natives as sure prognostics of return of the late storm.
