A prediction of the dying out of the Valentine’s Day custom of sending cards.
A hundred and twenty-two years later, thankfully, Valentine’s Day is still a celebrated custom.
The custom of sending valentines on the 14th February is rapidly dying out, and giving place to the new fashion of Christmas and New Year’s Day cards.
Postmen no longer totter under the burden of huge bags of amorous or other epistles.
Each successive year shows that the number sent considerably decreases, and in a few years we may expect to see the custom becoming entirely obsolete.
