First Ever Skegness Holiday Guide

The first Skegness Town Guide was published in 1882 by Mr E A Jackson. The holiday guide gave account of both the ancient and modern history of Skegness, saying that Skegness had a haven, a walled-in town and a castle, all once consumed by the sea.

The guide included a coloured view of the Skegness Promenade Pier, and described how the town had changed from a sleepy village into a bustling, popular seaside resort.
