Accident to the Burgh Mail

On Tuesday night last an accident occurred to the Burgh mail while being driven from Burgh to the Burgh station.

The mails are conveyed between Skegness and Burgh by Mr. W Pape, of Skegness, and when about midway between Burgh and the station on the night named the horse broke one of its hind legs, and had to be shot on the road.

As the accident did not occur by the animal falling it is supposed that the snow clogged its feet thus causing it to break its leg.

Assistance was speedily obtained and the mail bags conveyed to the station in time to catch the up mail train.
