SKEGNESS Air Taxi Service has refused to comment on the blaze which destroyed one of its aircraft on Friday.
But Skegness CID are still treating it as a possible case of arson, although they have no idea of the reason at present.
The fire was discovered at about 11pm. by Mr John Griffin, one of the crew working at the Ingoldmells airfield.
The fire brigade was called, but the airport tender had succeeded in putting the fire out before they arrived.
Damage to the plane, an Auster JIN, is estimated at about £11,500, but the hangar in which it was housed was undamaged.
Police confirmed that an investigation was taking place into the question of possible arson, and are asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious near the airfield between 10pm. and 11pm. on Friday.
A spokeswoman at the air taxi service offices was tight-lipped about the case. “We are not prepared to say anything,” she said.
