Spilsby Grammar School 1829

A picture of Spilsby Grammar School, which was founded in the fourteenth century, as it was in 1829. On the left will be seen the old prison, where the Quarter Sessions used to be held; the prison grounds extended right up to the house now occupied by Mr. W. S. Rainey. It will be noticed that the school was a three-storied building, and as at that time there was no playing field, the scholars had to play their games on the road between the School and the Church.
