Elephant Strolls Along Skegness "Prom"

FAR FROM HOME

Our photograph depicts Mr. Harold Carter in the role of an “Ancient Briton”, riding an unusual mount along the promenade at Skegness, last week.

The elephant forms me of the supplementary attractions at Thompson’s Pleasure Ground on the North Parade, and has been a source of great interest in the town, particularly to the younger fraternity.

‘Harold’ is a well-known personality locally.

September 1929

Note: One of the men walking alongside the elephant, most probably the one on the left, is Victor Falloon (Fallon), who was involved in a bigamy scandal not long after this photograph was taken.
