    Hello Angela

The old soldier on your link is NOT of the KOYLI — but the York and Lancaster regiment.

    See his badges –??

Great story — but you have the wrong soldier

Thanks for pointing that out, Les.
If we look at the first page of the original diary
    http://gillottfamilyhistory.fotopic.net/p11972132.html
four times does the soldier describe his position as ‘koyli’.
Could it be that Ernest and his peers were working ‘alongside’ the koylis in India?
This has indeed become a mystery.
I humbly confess I know little about the military, but have extracted the info from original documents.

    Hi
We are desperately trying to get our local community to support us. We are trying to get the owners of the former kwik save store in skegness to recognise their responsibility to keep the site clean and secure. We have made it to the front page of the skegness standard and still no response from the company or any sign they are going to rectify the problem.
Mr Airstones house directly backs on to the site and has had to suffer gypsy’s being on the site and vandalism and noise since the store closed a few months ago. He has had contact with the company but they seem uninterested and nothing has been done, even today vandals have ripped water pipes and there is a flood of water coming from the roof area of the former store.
We would like everyone in skegness to know that we are using the social networking website facebook to gather support towards forcing the company to sort this problem a link is here

here is the article from our paper
