THE countdown to Sainsbury’s Sport Relief The Louth Mile has begun with less than two weeks to go before residents go the distance for Sport Relief on Sunday 16th March.
Places are filling up fast and 200 residents should to sign up now to guarantee a place for them and their family at www.sportrelief.com.
200 Milers will be pulling on their Sport Relief socks and warming up at Manby Park and will make their way along the route through Manby Park, Louth. Sport Relief 2008 is all about challenging yourself, friends, family and colleagues to do something sporty and raise cash.
Lindsay Burton who has organised the event on behalf of East Lindsey District Council said: “As the countdown to the big day begins we’re looking forward to seeing hundreds of local residents going the distance and getting sponsored for Sport Relief. March 16 really will be a day to remember as the district pulls together for this fantastic cause.”
Milers can choose to do 1, 3 or 6 miles, so can select the distance that is a challenge for them and make sure they get sponsored while they do it. Last time a staggering 400,000 men, women and children did a Mile for Sport Relief – including Prince William who ran at Sandhurst, giving his royal seal of approval.
Sport Relief harnesses the power and passion of sport to change lives for the better. By doing sport, having fun and raising money, everyone can do good and feel good. Comic Relief spends the money raised to help vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.
