A large portion of the cash was collected at the funeral of Michael Deasy, the late husband of the local journalist, June Deasy.

Both the Mayor of Skegness and John Irving, on behalf of the Skegness Lifeboat Station, wished to extend their thanks to Mrs Deasy, for raising the money for the Mayor’s charity.

The Mayor said that his charity funds were doing exceedingly well, already well over £2000 has been raised since his term of office began on May 16th of this year. He added that £300 was raised yesterday by the Mayor’s charity stall which formed part of the Twinning Gala held in Tower Gardens. “I’d like to thank all who have contributed so far,” the Mayor said.

The Mayor’s charity was given a £500 boost when Gordon and Diane Hawkins of Skegness Sands and Hawkins Electricals sponsored Coun Milner when he was ‘rescued by the Skegness Lifeboat‘ during the recent Lifeboat Week in Skegness.
