The Queen conveyed her good wishes to East Lindsey ahead of Jolly’s 100th birthday.

The Queen has been the first to wish Skegness’ Resort Mascot, the Jolly Fisherman, a happy one-hundredth birthday ahead of his birthday celebrations in 2008.

A letter from Buckingham Palace states that ‘Her Majesty was interested to learn that the Jolly Fisherman created by artist John Hassall, will be 100 years old in 2008.

The Queen hopes that the celebrations to mark this event will be both enjoyable and successful.’

Resorts Official, Bob Suich, said the fact that the Queen had taken the time to acknowledge the anniversary and sent a message to the District, emphasises the importance of the occasion:

“In the coming months a plan of celebrations will be published, if the public have any ideas for events they would like to take place they should let us know,” he said.
